A brief history of health insurance - why obamacare is a failure

A brief history of health insurance – or why some of us knew that obamacare would be a flop.

**This is my personal opinion and is full of sarcasm, it is not meant to be entirely accurate**

Many years ago, most people did not have insurance.  However, back then there were lots of “nonprofit” hospitals that would gladly take anyone without insurance.  When my first two children were born we paid the hospital $100 a month for 10 months to cover all of the expenses.  The money went directly to the hospital or doctors, there were no middlemen.  Eventually those “nonprofit” hospitals were bought out and bulldozed.  Hospitals are now in the business of making money.

Then after that change, there was what is called “Major medical” insurance.  It cost our employer about $1000 a year and it covered everything medical that totaled over $2000.  We kept all of the paperwork ourselves and then submitted it at the end of the year.  Our insurance company then sent us a check for everything that totaled over $2000.  We then used that money to cover the medical expenses for the next year. 

Then disaster struck.  Our wonderful government thought that it would fix the “problems” with health insurance.  They passed laws that invented what is called an “HMO”.  HMO insurance included “Free” physicals and many other “free” things because, as we all well know, if you see the doctor for free you will not get sick and hence you will save a lot of money.  HMO’s also required that the primary care doctor would do all of the paperwork so he had to hire two or three secretaries just to process all of that paperwork.  HMO’s would save money because the doctor would detect problems earlier and you would not get as sick.  OK, maybe the premiums would go up a little because someone had to pay for all of the secretaries to process the paperwork and someone had to pay for all of those “free” physicals, etc.  Insurance went from $1000 a year to $10,000 a year.  Thanks to the US government for figuring out how to save us money.  As a result many people were no longer insured.

Then along comes more help from the “experts” on saving money.   Yes ObamaScare to the rescue!  His idea was that if those who were well paid a little [lot] more they could cover the expenses of those who were sick.  He also eliminated being refused insurance because of “preexisting” conditions.  He also included coverage for a lot of things like abortions and sex changes.  Of course someone has to pay for all of those new extra benefits.  On top of that, if you had insurance that did not include all of the new extra benefits, it has to be cancelled.  So as a result about 1/2 to 3/4 of those with insurance will find that their insurance is now cancelled.  However they will not be able to afford the increased premiums, to pay for those that are already sick, so in the end as much as 1/2 or more of the population will be left without any health insurance.

On top of that there is the now delayed “Employer Mandate”.  Any company with more than a few employees is required to give “free” health care insurance to all of its full time employees.  The solution is simple, make them “part time” employees.  This led to massive job reductions and that led the “Employer Mandate” being delayed until after the election.    

Now if we were to go back to directly paying the doctors we could cut the cost in half because all middle men (insurance companies) do is increase the cost of seeing your doctor.  Remember ObamaScare is not medical coverage, it is health insurance, there is a huge difference there.

"Gay Rights" versus "Religious Freedom"

This week the US government stopped all funding for a program that had been promoting Religious Freedom around the world.  On the very same news cast they also announced that, via executive order, federal funding will be cut off from any nation that does not support "Gay Rights".

Then on Saturday I sat down and watched the science channel video called "Biblical Mysteries Explained examines the tale of Sodom and Gomorrah".  I knew they had excavated Sodom and had determined the it was in fact destroyed by fire and brimstone.  Basically the buildings show burn holes in them from small objects that were at 400 to 500 degrees on impact.  The people died in agony as they were set on fire.  After watching the TV episode I now also know that they have records of a meteor track that was observed around 3125 BC, and that people digging up ice cores around the world have found evidence of a "nuclear winter" around 3200 BC.  What was kind of funny is that while they were proving the Biblical record to be true they were also referring to the story of Sodom as a "tale" and referring to the time as being "BCE".

My opinion on Occupy Wall Street Demands

I have read some stuff on Occupy Wall Street and I do not see a clear goal, or objective.
So Here are some of my suggestions of what needs to be done to fix this country, besides just simply throwing out the current government and replacing it with one that is "of the people by the people and FOR the people".

1. BALANCE THE BUDGET
Stop wanton wasteful government spending.  According to the pie chart found on the IRS web site last year 40% of government money came from borrowing!  And according to the same chart 40% was spent on "social spending".  Balance the stinking budget!  Stop the government from "social engineering".  CEASE AND DESIST wasting our children's money on totally stupid programs!

2. REPEAL STUPID LAWS
Repeal laws that just make the rich richer and the poor poorer.  Most laws coming out of Washington have the exact opposite effect of what they were supposedly written for.  They must be repealed and cancelled! For example repeal the HMO law that created HMO's and caused medical insurance to go through the roof!

3. NUKE THE TAX CODE
Nuke the IRS and start over.  Some sort of flat tax would be ideal.  Eliminate tax breaks for mortgages, and other such nonsense.  Eliminate non-tax taxes like SS and medicare unless they actually go to where they are supposed to go.. LOL.

After saying that I realize these things will never happen so we should just gather around and watch the USA go down the tubes as a hopeless case.

The IRS borrows 40% of its income!

I got this pie chart from irs.gov:

I was looking to see if the SS taxes were still making up over 40% of government income. It turns out they are down to only 25%! But if you take out the 40% of borrowed income then the SS Taxes still make up over 40% of "actual" government income. That is to prove that almost half of their income is from people making less than $250K. In fact any income over $110K is now exempt from the SS tax! More proof they tax the poor to pay the rich....

But take this a step further, how many years can I borrow half of my income before the interest on that borrowing exceeds my income???  The same thing applies to the IRS.  This borrowing without limits is totally insane!!  They must immediately balance the budget, and that balancing must not only include paying the interest on the debt, but the debt should be paid down at about 10% per year, 5% per year as a minimum!!

Also note that "Social Programs" and "community development" make up 35% of government spending. This must immediately "Cease and Desist".  The law does not allow the feds to spend money on these!

New York State is in for trouble

Well I have kept my mouth shut for a while, but I am outraged about this New York 'gay marriage' thing.  Remember what happened in Florida?  In New Orleans?  In California?  Is that kind of disaster headed for NY?

If my dreams amount to anything, I have seen back to back 'natural' disasters.  I have seen New York City and Rochester in ruins.  I have seen the beginnings of the 'Second Civil War'.  Out of the ashes will come a new government not controlled by special interests, not taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich, a government that is actually 'of the people' not 'of the elite'!


BTW I have a history of accurate dreams, three times i dreamed of a jet crashing into a building, in 1998 I wrote down that "I saw a plane rocking as if the pilot did not know what he was doing then it turned into a building, debris was falling everywhere and people were running form the debris."

While I am at it here is the solution for the debt crisis:

Just dissolve the USA and then divide it up into three smaller countries.  They would be the North, the South and the West.  You could call them the Yankee States (YSA) the Confederate States (CFA) and the Western States (WSA).  Since the USA would no longer exist there would be no need to pay back the debt, that country is not there anymore!  Otherwise at 1% interest, 14 trillion is 140 billion in interest a year.  Do you have that kind of money?  What if that climbs to 2 or 3%?

More on the upcoming 'Second Civil War'

Back before the last presidential election I had a dream about the second civil war.  It was so strong and shocking that I goggled it to find out that someone was saying that if Obama did not win the election there would be a 'second civil war'.  Since then I have had many more similar dreams.  What bothers me most is that when I watch what is happening in Libya and Egypt, I see that same thing happening here in the USA!

Recently I came across an article full of sarcasm, I think, on the subject of the impending second civil war.  It was called 'Tax the Super Rich now or face a revolution'.  That connected several dots.  I have talked on how the government is taxing the poor and giving the money to the rich (bailouts).  In fact the government is taxing our kids and our grandchildren to feed the rich.  They want to tax the skinny and give that to the fat (Supposed 'fat' tax that only taxes skinny people who refuse to eat 'diet' food).  What will they tax next?  My favorite old question is what will they do when the taxes reach 100%?


Another problem is the squeezing of the middle class and the new graduates.  Taxes have gone up, employees are passing the cost of health insurance on to their employees.  Real take home incme has gone down dramatically!  My 'take home' pay is the lowest it has been in 20 years!  At the same time the cost of everything is going up.  Gas for the car has tripled.  New car prices have tripled.  Food prices are up, rent has doubled and a new home is out of this world.  The net result is that no one can afford any 'luxuries' like cable TV, internet, a newer car, etc.  So sales have fallen and the end result is a 'recession' that seems to last forever.

You ask me what I think about the TEA party?  Well they say 'Taxed Enough Already'.  I say we are grossly overtaxed.  That is why all of these countries are rebelling.  The US needs to immediately drop all taxes (and taxes that are not called taxes) on people making less than $50,000 a year.  According to the IRS they account for less than 5% of all taxes, so why not!?  The last Tea party was over a 3% tax.  You say the problem was just taxation without representation?  So if they were allowed to send a representative to England then they would have been glad to pay a 50% tax?  What kind of a idiot do you take me to be?

Tax the skinny to feed the fat

Well its happened, San Francisco California has banned non-diet soda from vending machines!  Its enough that they tax the poor to feed the rich, now the efforts to tax the skinny to feed the fat have taken another step forward.

Think about this stupidity, who drinks non-diet soda?  Skinny people.  Who drinks diet soda and who eats diet food?  Fat people do.  So they want to eliminate non-diet food and drinks.  Basically you will HAVE to eat diet food and drink diet drinks!  These 'foods' are full of toxins and chemicals designed to make you fat!

When will these politicians wake up and get a sense of reality?  Do they exist only in a dream world that is totally controlled by chemical companies?  First they remove natural drugs and replace them with toxic chemicals and now they are doing the same thing to our foods, all in the name of more money for big drug companies!

Some claim that the rich pay all of the taxes, if that is so then lets drop ALL taxes on people who are making less than $50,000 since 'they do not pay any taxes'.  The notion promoted by the IRS and others that 95% of the taxes are from the top 5% income bracket is full of BULL.  Here is clear proof taken from the same IRS web site.  Note that about 1/3 of taxes are from Social Security.  How much SS taxes do the top 5% pay?  OOPS! 

Just in case you missed that, the cap on the Social Security tax was about $100,000 the last time I checked.  That means that income over that amount is NOT TAXED!  So then we can conclude that 1/3 of the taxes are paid by people who are making less than $100,000!!!!

Gas Drilling in the Marcellus Shale

Well I went home to my moms in Northeastern Pennsylvania for the weekend and discovered two things.  First the 91 year old lady with two dead bodies in her house that has been in the news lately happens to live at the house that my grandma and grandpa Butts lived in.

Secondly, across the road from my moms is a new gas well that is being drilled.  They are working 24 hours a day 7 days a week drilling away.  There are also several gas drilling related companies that are springing up in the area.  This is what a typical well being drilled looks like.

Fat Tax or Skinny Tax?

What do you think about the proposed 'Fat Tax'?


Personally it has me outraged! They are going to tax drinks containing "sugar" and to get the law passed they will drop all taxes on drinks with artifical sweeteners. This will try to force people to drink soda that contains deadly artifical sweeteners. Also consider this fact: Skinny people drink sugary sodas, fat people drink diet sodas. So the tax will actually be a tax on SKINNY PEOPLE! It is not a fat tax at all, unless they also tax toxic diet sodas! And what about all those candy bars that are not only full of sugar but they are also full of fat? What about doughnuts that are also full of fat and sugar??? Could these crazy politicians actually create a "Fat Tax"? Of course not, they just want to make Americans Fatter and Sicker, but that way they can get the backing of the people that are poisoning us.

BTW - I would be all for a "corn syrup" tax!!!

Facts about this economic depression

I am so sick of the economic depression being blamed on former president Bush. First of all congress was being run by democrats ever since the 2006 election so they were already running up the deficit. But the big problem happened in October when the media announced that Obama was going to win the election, look at the stock market index picture below. The stock market plunged when the media announced that Obama would win in October, then it plunged again when he won the election in November, then it plunged when he took office in January. Then it continued down as he had his first three months in office. JUST LOOK! The facts speak for themselves! What is going to happen next? Cap and trade. Take a look and you can see that since Cap and trade started winding its way through congress, the stock market has dropped about 300 points. If Federal health care goes through it will plunge again.

There is precedent for this. The stock market tanked three times during the great depression before the government could figure out the cause and effect. People are not going to invest their hard earned money in companies if they know the government is going to tax the companies to death. Companies are not going to invest, grow in size, and create jobs if they know the government is going to tax them to death. People will not have money to invest if the government taxes them to death.

The solution stop spending and cut taxes! It has worked before and it will work again.

Government Stimulus

I thought I would give my opinion on the so called 'Government Stimulus'.

Since when does taking money from the poor to feed the rich solve all of the problems with the economy?

Since wanton government and financial company waste got us into a really big mess, why would encouraging more of the same solve the problem?

Since 'we the people' are getting out of debt, why would more government debt solve the problem.

So we should borrow money from our children, likely even our grandchildren, to give to our financial institutions so they can waste it?

After being unemployed for 6 months, I recently cashed in an IRA from 2001. I had deposited $5000, and a year ago it was up to $9800. When it dropped down to $8000 I told them to put it into something that will not loose any more money. When it reached $4400 I cashed it in. I not only lost all of the interest I lost some of the principal.

The US government will eventually collapse unless they stop all of this nonsense!

What is the solution? Reduce taxes! Instead of complicated methods of 'redistributing the wealth', just cut taxes on the poor.

Forget global warming, declare war on mercury!

First of all the people complaining about global warming believe there were as many as a dozen ice ages. What happened between those ice ages? Lets stop wasting our money on nonsense and fight a real critical problem. One in 160 children have autism and autism has been linked to mercury in 2 unrelated studies just in the last week or two.

One study on monkeys showed that monkeys that were vaccinated with the same vaccinations that our children get develop autism and other neurological diseases. There was a control group that did not get vaccinations and that did not develop the diseases. This study clearly proves the link between the vaccinations and autism.

Another study came from the state of Texas. They studied the rate of autism and the location of sources of mercury. For every 10 miles further from a source of mercury your chances of autism goes down by 1 percent. The number one source of mercury is coal burning power plants.

We need to ban the use of mercury in lights, and yes I know that a law requiring those lights has just been signed into effect by the global warming people! They are using a made up problem to create a much greater problem. Old lights were inefficient in that they give off heat. Well if you live in the northern 1/2 of the USA extra heat is not a problem! Imagine how much colder it would be if it were not for global warming?

We need to require mercury scrubbers on all power plants that burn coal. This stuff cannot just be released into the air. Have you ever seen the smoke coming from some of those power plants?
We need to ban the use of mercury in all vaccinations. Currently it is banned in vaccinations that are used only in children. That law needs to be greatly expanded.

Laws limiting the use of mercury fillings need to be expanded to make it possible to get those fillings removed. I have about 2 left and most dentists will not remove them until they are clearly leaking.

We need immediate research into removing mercury from our bodies. Two possibilities for removing mercury are chlorella and detox foot pads. What methods work the best? Can the autism be reversed?

Like the ban on Lead leading to the removal of lead from our gas and our paints, Mercury needs to be banned. Places to turn in mercury filled thermometers and thermostats need to be set up so they can be safely collected.
